Daily Prompt: If I Could Turn Back Time
If you could return to the past to relive a part of your life, either to experience the wonderful bits again, or to do something over, which part of you life would you return to? Why?
I try not to dwell on past mistakes or regrets. There is one decision in my life that I wish I could’ve had a do-over for. I regret buying into the “renting is a waste of money, you need to buy a house”. The main problem with this regret is that I firmly believe that everything up to now has led me to the place where I stand now.
So I vow, to give up that regret, as it gets me no where and I am in a much happier/healthier place in spite of that mistake.
So let’s relive a wonderful bit…
Daily Prompt: She Drives Me Crazy
It makes me crazy when people wear their shoes in my house. What habit/act drives you crazy? How do you prevent it from happening?
“Why?” — one of my biggest pet peeves
I don’t mind questions. I don’t even mind someone asking why something is the way it is.
What I hate is when someone uses “Why?” like a toddler.
This happens in class every term. There is always one student who continues to ask why no matter how many explanations that I give. A student like this can derail a class for the whole term. It is a challenge. A declaration of war. The start to a rebellion.
Daily Prompt: Que Sera Sera
Do you believe in fate or do you believe you can control your own destiny?
Simply answer? Yes.
But wait there were two options, how can I answer yes?
Because I’m a Pisces through and through. I almost always have at least two answers to the same question.
What do I want for dinner? Sushi! No. Steak! No. Tofu Pad Thai! No!
Except when I have only one answer…like when teaching Math. Although even then, I may give two different ways of looking at the problem.
I’ve said before that I am a great procrastinator, to which some may wrongly think that I am lazy. I have worked 2-3 jobs at the same time for the majority of my adult life. In fact, the times where I have only had one job, I always feel like something is missing.
My students asked me the other day how many jobs I have had in my life. I honestly couldn’t answer the question. I really can’t remember all of them. So now I’ll try to search my memory warehouse for the facts.
Starting with the present and working backwards (more or less): Continue reading
What’s my rep? My answer is going to sound conceited. I’m the smart girl and the angel…by people who really don’t know me very well and I hate it.
As soon as anyone finds out that I have a degree in math — “Oh my god, you are REALLY smart! I sucked at math!” Who decided that the litmus test for intelligence was math? Now I’m not saying that I’m not smart, but I also don’t deserve this jaw dropping state of awe. Do people treat English or History degree holders the same way? Continue reading
Wow, I can’t believe I actually have followers. I imagined people would end up reading some of my stuff, but not really sticking around for more.
So, thank you for reading and wanting to see more.
I do want to have a disclaimer. This is my first blog. The closest that I have gotten to blogging is chronicling Mercy’s life in the hospital and nursing home this year. And that was just to friends on Facebook. Please don’t get after me too bad about my grammar and punctuation…I’m a math teacher, not an english teacher. I do promise to try to get better as I go and am open to suggestions and constructive criticism. Continue reading
